Is there anything more cleansing than spending time at the beach?
I love it. We went to the Oregon Coast for a week with David's family for the last week in June. It was a great vacation. We had two beach houses side by side in Pacific City, Oregon. They sat right on the sand.
There was so much sand inside the houses it felt like you were living on the beach itself. Grandma Ann would've loved it. Grandpa Heber would've gone insane:). It was so great for the kids. The sand stretched out flat in front of the houses for probably 20 yards,
then the sand sloped down sharply to the beach.
The kids could play in that sand forever, and knew they could only go down the hill to the water with an adult. It was in the 60's/70's all week which turned out to be perfect. It was never too hot to play outside on the sand, yet never too cold to be able to go walk on the beach. We only had one cold and cloudy day, and that day we drove up to Astoria and checked out the Maritime Museum,
the trolley car,
the Astoria column (or "big stick we couldn't go up in" as Anna likes to call it),
and the four mile bridge across the Columbia River.
Other days we took a scenic train ride from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach,
went to the Aquarium in Newport,
watched the glassblowing, had a picnic at the park, shopped at the outlets,
picked up the boys from their fishing trip,
and checked out the kite festival.
It was a very relaxing vacation, my favorite kind:)

10. Digging in the sand with the kids

9. Running down the sand hill to get to the water

8. Beach combing for whole sand dollars

3. Sitting on a chair in the sand overlooking the ocean and reading my book (this is really a picture of David sitting on the chair watching Anna play, but it was as close as I could get, and conveys the same feeling:)
2. Watching the sun set over the ocean

Ocean air, there's nothing like it. I'm dreaming of it now.

You are making me homesick! Anna is getting so big! Glad you enjoyed your trip. I loved seeing all the pix. Love you!
You know how I feel about the beach. I love the pix of the beach at sunset. That really is the highlight of every beach trip for me. It's the place I feel most relaxed in the whole world. We just got back from camping in the Smoky Mountains. It was a blast, but I have mountains of laundry here to do, now!
Cathy this brought back so many memories of when our family would go to the beach with Barnwell family. How much fun!!!! Love ya fer
