The BIG Trip

It turned out this year that my family reunion and David's family vacation were scheduled back to back. We decided to add a side trip at the beginning. Thus began the whirlwind tour of the Intermountain West:) First we drove to Shelley, Idaho and spent the night. The next day we left Anna with Aunt Penny and Grandma Linda while David and I headed off to Las Vegas for a couple of days away! It has been a very long time since we took a trip without Anna (3 years I think). We had a fantastic time in Vegas (more details to come with pictures in a separate post). After four fun filled days, we came back to Shelley, spent the night again, and in the morning headed for Clayton, Idaho (pop. 26) and the May Family Ranch for my family reunion. My family on my mother's side has a reunion every 3-5 years with all my aunts, uncles and cousins. Everyone was there except three of my nephews (who we missed a lot, and they better be there next time:). It was so much fun to see everyone and watch all the little kids run everywhere. There were over 100 of us. My Aunt Marilyn was in charge and we ate an insane amount of delicious food. After 3 fun filled days we headed up to meet David's family in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. We had a huge house in the forest. It was a beautiful place. We went to an amusement park, toured a silver mine, went on a moose/mouse scavenger hunt, swam in the lake, rode a gondola up the mountain, dug for garnets, and saw a giant Paul Bunyan statue along with a real mommy and baby moose in the wild. It was a great time. We finally arrived home Sunday afternoon, over two weeks after leaving town. I told David we should do this every year-put all the summer trips into one big vacation. It was so much easier going from place to place instead of unpacking and repacking every couple of weeks. I also think David was gone long enough from work that he actually got to forget about it for a little while. We are back into the swing of things. Busy with work, Relief Society, and swim lessons. I will try and write separate and detailed posts about our many adventures from the BIG trip over the next couple of days.
