They made this Caterpillar in Anna's preschool class. They were studying bugs and butterflies one week, and seeds and flowers the next. They took a nylon stocking and stuffed it with dirt that had grass seed, tied the end of the sock , and put three pony tail holders around it to make the bumps.
They made the antenna and eyes, and then they watched them grow.
When they sprouted, they got to bring them home.
Bernie got very long and fuzzy. 
My friend Tracie suggested trimming Bernie. 
So Anna became "Anna the Callipiter Trimmer".

Well, Bernie continued to grow at a great rate, and so it was time for a second trim. This time Anna the Trimmer went for the buzz cut.
Grandma Ann tried to point out that Bernie might not grow back if trimmed too closely, but Anna was intent.
After the short trim both Grandma and Anna were very vigilant about watering Bernie, and he began to develop a moldy scalp, so Bernie has been sent to live in the backyard, where hopefully he will thrive.
